Veteran actress Maricel Soriano, along with Maris Racal and McCoy De Leon, took home major acting honors at the 74th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences or FAMAS Awards, held at the Fiesta Pavilion of The Manila Hotel.
Soriano won Best Actress, while Racal was named Actress of Distinction, a first in the history of the FAMAS Awards.
De Leon, meanwhile, beat Jericho Rosales, who starred in the film Quezon, to win Best Actor for his portrayal of Father Rhoel Gallardo in In Thy Name.
The film also won Best Picture, with its director, Cesar Soriano, taking home the Best Director award.
Although Rosales missed out on the Best Actor trophy, his Quezon co-stars Mon Confiado and Karylle emerged victorious in the Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress categories, respectively.
