The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central vowed to pursue justice for two soldiers who were killed in a shooting incident in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte, on Sept. 23, 2026.
The fallen soldiers were identified as Corporal Jobert C. Labuson and Corporal John Mark C. Dumaguing of the 7th Infantry Battalion, 6ID.
Brig. Gen. Ricky Bunayog, acting commander of 6ID/JTF Central, led the posthumous awarding of military honors for the two soldiers during a ceremony at the Camp Siongco Mortuary on Sept. 25.
Their families received the honors on their behalf.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines also provided immediate financial assistance to the bereaved families as part of its continuing support for personnel who died in the line of duty.
Bunayog paid tribute to the soldiers’ courage, dedication and service to the Filipino people.
He assured their families and comrades that 6ID/JTF Central would pursue justice and hold those responsible for the incident accountable under the law.
Capt. Danilo Diaz II, division chaplain of 6ID, led the blessing of the soldiers’ remains during the funeral rites.
After the ceremony, the remains were transported to their respective hometowns for final burial.
The 6ID/JTF Central condemned the violence and said it would mobilize available resources to identify, apprehend and bring the perpetrators to justice.
