The father of actress Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu visited his daughter, who remains in the custody of the Kamuning Police Station.
The visit came following Lakam’s arrest on Sunday over 124 counts of qualified theft filed by her sister, actress Kim Chiu.
According to Lakam’s father, their family is still unable to raise the P5.6 million bail set for her immediate release.
Several volunteers are reportedly helping the family raise funds for her bail.
Meanwhile, Lakam’s lawyer, Dominic Solis, said they are working on a surety bond, in which a bonding company guarantees the bail amount in exchange for a non-refundable premium.
Lakam’s camp is hoping to complete the necessary documents and secure the release order as soon as possible.
The bail was initially set at P5.8 million but was reduced by P200,000 after the court granted a motion filed by her lawyer.
Lakam faces 124 counts of qualified theft over alleged financial discrepancies amounting to P44.4 million involving a company in which she and her sister, Kim Chiu, are both stakeholders.
