The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has lifted its ban order against messaging and media-sharing platform Discord following its compliance with requirements set by the Philippine government.
The decision came after a meeting between CICC officials and Discord management.
According to DICT Undersecretary and CICC Executive Director Renato “Aboy” Paraiso, the meeting focused on the platform’s compliance with government requirements, including stronger coordination on online safety, cybersecurity, and cybercrime concerns.
Among Discord’s commitments is the establishment of a dedicated channel for government requests and complaints, as well as plans to establish a Philippine office and appoint a local country representative in the future.
Through these mechanisms, Philippine authorities are expected to have a more direct and efficient channel for addressing legitimate concerns and requests involving the platform.
