The Bases Conversion and Development Authority or BCDA has assured assistance and relocation support for residents who will be affected by the construction of the Pax Silica AI Hub in New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac.
BCDA President and CEO Joshua Bingcang clarified that no residents will be forcibly displaced, as those living within the project site will instead be relocated to another area within the same barangay.
Around 40 structures, involving an estimated 200 residents, are expected to be affected by the development, which will occupy a 10-hectare portion of the area.
Bingcang said affected residents will receive the necessary assistance and benefits, including third-party claimants, many of whom are members of the Indigenous Peoples or IP community.
The BCDA also reiterated that reports claiming up to 20,000 Aetas would be displaced by the 1,620-hectare Pax Silica AI Hub are inaccurate.
The agency maintained that the project will not leave affected communities without homes or assistance.
