Denmark has accused a Russian warship of firing two emergency flares while it was being monitored by Danish helicopters over the Baltic Sea.
The incident reportedly occurred during a routine monitoring operation, prompting the Danish government to summon Russia’s ambassador and demand clarification over the warship’s actions.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described the incident as concerning, warning that such actions could be perceived as intimidation and risk escalating tensions in the region.
Russia, meanwhile, said it would investigate the incident to establish the circumstances surrounding the flare launches.
