Filipina tennis star Alex Eala will face another Top 10 opponent when she takes on World No. 10 Amanda Anisimova of the United States in the Round of 32 of the WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open.
The match is scheduled for August 18 at 8:30 a.m. Manila time at the Stadium Court of the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
Eala advanced after defeating Romania’s Elena-Gabriela Ruse, 6-1, 3-0 via retirement, while Anisimova beat Turkey’s Zeynep Sonmez, 6-2, 6-3.
Eala has nine career wins against Top 10 players, including her recent victory over former World No. 3 Jessica Pegula, which helped her claim her first WTA Tour title.
The winner of the Eala-Anisimova match will advance to face the winner between Linda Noskova and Clara Tauson in the next round.
