A government employee was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Digos City, Davao del Sur after allegedly selling suspected shabu to an undercover operative, authorities said.
The operation was conducted at about 10:12 a.m. on July 31 in Purok Tugas, Bonifacio 7th Street, Barangay Zone 3.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 11 (PDEA RO11) carried out the operation in coordination with the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office and the Digos City Police Station.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Dong,” 42, is a Job Order employee of the City Government of Digos.
Authorities alleged that the suspect sold one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu worth ₱7,000 to a PDEA operative acting as a poseur-buyer.
During the operation, law enforcement personnel also recovered five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu in varying sizes.
The seized suspected illegal drugs had an estimated total weight of 19 grams and a standard drug price of approximately ₱129,200.
Authorities also confiscated the marked buy-bust money and other non-drug evidence.
The suspect will face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended.
PDEA said the case will undergo the appropriate legal process following the suspect’s arrest.
The operation was jointly conducted by anti-drug operatives and local police as part of ongoing law enforcement efforts against the illegal drug trade in the region.
No other arrests were reported in connection with the operation.
Authorities did not release additional information regarding the suspect beyond his alias, age, and employment status. The seized items are expected to be used as evidence in the filing of charges before the appropriate court.
