A delivery rider has been praised after catching a child who fell from the second floor of a house in Tondo, Manila, preventing what could have been a more serious incident.
The rider, identified as Bryan Serrano, was making a delivery in Barangay 375, Zone 38 when the incident occurred.
According to reports, Serrano was calling for the recipient of the parcel he was carrying when he suddenly looked up and noticed a child leaning out from the second floor of a nearby house.
He initially believed that someone inside the house was holding the child.
Moments later, however, the child suddenly fell.
Serrano immediately dropped the parcel he was carrying and rushed forward to catch the child before the youngster hit the ground.
The child survived the fall and sustained only minor abrasions.
No other injuries were reported.
Following the incident, Serrano’s actions drew praise from residents and others who learned about the rescue.
His courier company also learned of his actions and later gave him a reward in recognition of his quick response and bravery.
