Grade 9 student allegedly killed by classmate in Las Piñas school stabbing

A 13-year-old student died after allegedly being stabbed by a 14-year-old classmate inside Las Piñas National High School on Friday afternoon, July 31, authorities said.

According to Las Piñas Acting Police Chief Col. Fermin Armendarez II, the incident occurred at about 4:53 p.m. in front of a classroom on the fourth floor of the school building.

Based on the initial police report, the suspect and the victim were involved in an altercation before the incident. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pulled out a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

The 14-year-old suspect is now under police custody.

Authorities said the minor will undergo the appropriate intervention and care under the supervision of the Las Piñas City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Police have launched an investigation to determine what triggered the dispute between the two students.

Investigators are also looking into how the bladed weapon was brought inside the school premises.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding the altercation or the identity of the students involved because they are minors.

The incident remains under investigation, and police have yet to announce any additional findings.

The Las Piñas police said the investigation will focus on establishing the events leading up to the stabbing and identifying possible lapses in school security, particularly regarding the entry of the weapon into the campus.
