COVID-19 cases in the Ph down 70% compared to last year

The Philippines recorded 1,532 COVID-19 cases from January 4 to July 11, 2026, marking a significant decline from the 5,070 cases reported during the same period last year.

Despite the decrease, the Department of Health (DOH), in coordination with local government units, continues to closely monitor the situation across all regions to help prevent the spread of the disease.

According to the DOH, COVID-19 may not always show symptoms even when the illness has already become severe.

Although the World Health Organization (WHO) declared in May 2023 that COVID-19 was no longer considered a global public health emergency, the agency emphasized that the disease remains a health threat and should not be taken lightly.
