Rider killed in suspected riding-in-tandem attack in Cebu

A motorcycle rider was killed after being shot by two assailants in a suspected riding-in-tandem attack on the evening of July 15 in Sitio Katugasan, Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City.

According to the initial police investigation, the victim, identified only as Limart, was driving his motorcycle with a passenger, Jose. Both are residents of Barangay Bolinawan in Carcar City.

Investigators said the two suspects suddenly opened fire on the victim as they reached the area.

Despite sustaining gunshot wounds, Limart was able to continue driving for a short distance.

Police said the attackers allegedly chased the victim and fired additional shots, causing multiple gunshot wounds to different parts of his body.

After the shooting, the suspects fled toward the center of Carcar City.

Authorities said Jose positively identified the alleged attackers as individuals known by the aliases “Arge” and “Val,” who were reportedly neighbors of the victim.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Police have launched an investigation to locate and arrest the suspects while determining the motive behind the attack.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances that may have led to the shooting.

Investigators continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses as part of the ongoing case. Law enforcement officials said efforts are underway to track down the suspects identified by the witness and establish the motive for the killing. No arrests had been announced at the time of the latest police report.
