PNP says it will arrest Bato dela Rosa if he appears at impeachment trial

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it will enforce the existing warrant of arrest against Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa if he appears at the Senate during the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

PNP Public Information Office Chief Brig. Gen. Allen Rae Co said police are mandated to carry out the arrest should the senator appear.

Dela Rosa is the subject of a warrant of arrest issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in connection with the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign.

Co also said the PNP has completed a comprehensive security plan for the impeachment trial to ensure peace and order throughout the proceedings.

The security measures include deploying an adequate number of police personnel and coordinating closely with the Senate and other government agencies to maintain orderly and peaceful hearings.

According to Co, authorities have not monitored any validated threat that could affect the conduct of the impeachment trial.

The PNP said it remains prepared to implement its security operations while carrying out its law enforcement responsibilities during the Senate proceedings.

Police did not provide additional details regarding operational procedures or any specific deployment plans.

The statement came as security preparations continue ahead of the impeachment trial involving Vice President Sara Duterte.

The PNP reiterated that its role is to enforce existing legal orders and maintain public safety during the proceedings.

As of the latest police assessment, officials said there are no validated security threats that could disrupt the impeachment trial.
