The Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) has intensified its investigation into alleged irregularities involving flood control projects in 2026.
In his video message during the Southeast Asian Ombudsman Forum (SEAOF), which is being hosted by the Philippines, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla revealed that 209 complaints are currently undergoing fact-finding investigation, while four cases have already been filed in court.
According to Remulla, behind these figures lies a deeper responsibility.
He said this includes strengthening public trust and demonstrating that accountability institutions are capable of responding with independence, fairness, and professionalism.
At the same time, the Ombudsman emphasized that their work requires regional platforms such as the SEAOF, which promote cooperation and the exchange of best practices among accountability institutions in the region.
