Yellow and red alert status in Luzon grid further Extended

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced that the implementation of yellow and red alert status over the Luzon power grid has been extended further.

In its advisory this morning, the red alert in Luzon was initially scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. today.

However, in an updated announcement released before noon, the red alert period was adjusted to start earlier at 2:00 p.m. and extended until 11:00 p.m.

Changes were also made to the schedule of the yellow alert status.

Earlier, the NGCP said the yellow alert would be in effect from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and again from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Under the updated advisory, the yellow alert was declared from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and later from 11:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight.

According to the agency, 17 power plants have been under forced outage since the start of the month, while several other plants remain unavailable or are operating at limited capacity.
