A passenger was injured after he was allegedly stabbed by another passenger inside a bus in Carcar City, Cebu, on Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened around 3 p.m. on May 7 in Sitio Campo, Barangay Guadalupe.
The 26-year-old victim, identified as Ronald, personally sought assistance from police authorities following the incident.
According to his statement, he boarded the bus in Talisay City, while the suspect, identified as Roel, boarded in the town of San Fernando.
The victim said he noticed the suspect was acting strangely and suspected that he was under the influence of alcohol.
Upon reaching the area in Barangay Guadalupe, the suspect allegedly suddenly pulled out a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim in the chest.
The victim managed to avoid a more serious attack but still sustained an injury to his chest.
Despite being wounded, the victim was able to restrain the suspect until authorities arrived at the scene.
In a video taken after the incident, the suspect was seen lying on the road while surrounded by residents.
Authorities recovered an 18-inch bladed weapon locally known as a “plamingko” from the suspect.
