The Atin Ito Coalition announced that it is “full steam ahead” for its fourth civilian mission in the West Philippine Sea, scheduled from April 30 to May 5, 2026.
Under the theme “Balik-Pag-asa,” organizers said during a press conference that the mission will cover both humanitarian and cultural activities, including the distribution of supplies, civic engagement, and the presence of civilians at sea as part of their continuing advocacy.
A key highlight of the mission is the “Patriotic Jetski Flag Ride” near Pag-asa Island, where participants will wave the Philippine flag as a peaceful assertion of presence in the area.
According to Akbayan Representative Dadah Kiram Ismula, the group aims to fulfill a promise previously made by former President Rodrigo Duterte regarding a jetski ride in the disputed waters.
In addition, the mission will feature the first-ever concert on Pag-asa Island, where Filipino performers will take the stage. Volunteers will also distribute supplies such as fuel and basic necessities to residents.
Civilian Mission Commander Rafaela David emphasized that the initiative is not “episodic,” but rather ongoing, organized, and growing.
Meanwhile, Atin Ito co-convenor and Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement President Edicio de la Torre said the mission goes beyond delivering aid and asserting presence, as it also aims to build long-term, meaningful solidarity with communities directly facing the realities in the West Philippine Sea.
