LTO Chief Lacanilao Reveals ₱2B Worth of Projects Awarded to Company Linked to Zaldy Co

A construction company linked to former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co reportedly secured around ₱2 billion worth of projects from the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

According to LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao, three projects within the LTO Central Office in Quezon City were awarded to Sunwest Corporation, a company owned by Co.

These projects include two establishments intended to serve as a dormitory and an IT hub, as well as the Central Command Center.

Both the IT hub and dormitory projects are reportedly worth ₱500 million each, while the command center costs over ₱946 million.

Lacanilao said the agency has launched an investigation after finding that the buildings were not being utilized.

He added that the projects appear questionable and need to be thoroughly examined.
