Teen student killed in Davao City motorcycle-truck crash

A 17-year-old male student died after being run over by a truck in Barangay Bato, Davao City, police confirmed.

According to the Davao City Police Station, both the truck and the victim’s motorcycle were traveling along Bato Road when the crash occurred. Investigators said the teenager attempted to overtake another vehicle but failed to notice a pedestrian crossing. This caused him to lose control and fall onto the road, where he was struck by the truck.

The victim was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors.

Police said the student was on his way to school at the time of the incident. Investigators also noted that he was driving without a license.

The Davao City Police Office expressed condolences to the victim’s family, calling the incident a tragic reminder of the risks faced by unlicensed and underage drivers.

In response, authorities issued a renewed warning to the public, particularly to parents, about the dangers of allowing minors to operate motorcycles. Police stressed that driving without a license is prohibited and poses serious safety risks not only to riders but also to other road users.
