Five religious statues beheaded in Bukidnon chapel

Five religious statues were discovered beheaded inside a chapel in Purok 3, Barangay Colonia, Valencia City, Bukidnon, causing shock and grief among members of The Bishop and The Philippine Trinitarian United Catholic Church Inc.

The vandalism took place inside the San Vicente Ferrer Chapel. Church members said they were horrified to find the statues destroyed and missing their heads when they arrived.

“It’s heartbreaking. Those statues have been with us even before we were born,” said May Ann Vista, a youth leader of the church, in an interview with Brigada.

The group immediately reported the incident to the Valencia City Police Station. However, identifying the culprits has proven difficult due to a damaged CCTV camera near the area.

Police are now investigating the incident. Members of the chapel are calling for justice, describing the act as a desecration of their place of worship.

No suspects have been named as of this writing.
