A massive fire engulfed a residential area in Sitio Base, Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City, early Friday morning, November 29, 2024. Thick smoke and blazing flames consumed 60 homes, leaving behind extensive damage.
The Talisay City Fire Office received the first alarm at 10:34 a.m., and the fire quickly escalated to a second alarm. Firefighters battled the flames for nearly an hour before the blaze was declared under control at 11:29 a.m.
Despite the scale of the destruction, no casualties were reported. The fire is estimated to have caused damage worth P370,000.
Firefighters faced significant challenges due to narrow roads, making it difficult for fire trucks to access the area promptly. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to have started in the home of a resident identified as “Bernard.”
The fire has displaced dozens of families, and local officials are working to provide assistance. As authorities continue to probe the cause, the community remains shaken by the devastating loss.
