A senior citizen couple was injured after being stabbed by an unidentified suspect inside their store on the evening of July 12 in Bogo City, Cebu.
According to police, Roberto, 66, and his wife, Virginia, 65, were inside their store when a man arrived while it was raining.
Authorities said the couple offered the man temporary shelter from the rain out of compassion. However, the man reportedly declined the offer.
A few minutes later, the same individual allegedly entered the store and repeatedly stabbed Virginia.
When Roberto attempted to stop the attack, he was also stabbed by the suspect.
Police said the attacker fled the scene after the incident aboard a motorcycle driven by another man.
The injured couple was immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have not released information about the extent of their injuries.
Investigators have yet to identify the suspects or determine the motive behind the attack.
Police are continuing their investigation to establish the identities of the individuals involved and gather additional evidence related to the case.
Authorities are also working to locate the two men who fled after the stabbing. No arrests have been announced as of the latest police report.
The incident occurred after the couple reportedly attempted to help the unidentified man by offering him a place to stay dry during the rain.
