Four people died, and 13 others were injured in a head-on collision between a van and a pickup truck on Makar-South Cotabato Road in Barangay Apopong, General Santos City at 2:40 p.m. on February 16.
According to the General Santos City Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on the six-lane highway when the pickup truck veered into the van’s lane, causing the collision.
The van driver and three passengers were declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Nine other van passengers sustained injuries, along with the pickup driver and three of its passengers, bringing the total number of injured individuals to 13.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident. The damaged vehicles have been towed, and personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection cleared the area.
