A 3-year-old girl was found lifeless with injuries on her body near a coconut kiln in Sitio Narra, Barangay Nuing, Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.
According to the Jose Abad Santos Municipal Police Station, the victim, identified only as “Say-Say,” was discovered unclothed and with visible wounds. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
A 10-year-old cousin of the victim reported seeing the suspect, the victim’s 16-year-old brother, who allegedly appeared intoxicated before taking the child toward the kiln, approximately 40 meters from their home. Moments later, the witness heard a scream. Upon checking, they found the victim injured and bleeding.
The child’s mother was immediately alerted and sought help from neighbors, but the victim was already unresponsive. Barangay tanods (village security officers) quickly apprehended the suspect and turned him over to the police.
Residents claimed that the suspect might have been under the influence of illegal substances at the time of the incident.
Police confirmed that the suspect is now in the custody of the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) while authorities prepare appropriate charges. Since the suspect is a minor, legal proceedings are ongoing.
