3 dead, 5 injured in Tacloban school shooting; grade 9 suspect arrested

Three people were killed and five others were injured in a shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City on Monday morning, June 22, according to initial information released by authorities.

The Tacloban City Police Office reported that the incident occurred at around 9 a.m. inside the school premises.

Police identified one of the suspects as a 15-year-old Grade 9 student and resident of Barangay 83, San Jose, Tacloban City. Authorities said the suspect was taken into custody following the incident.

A second suspect remains at large as police continue pursuit operations.

According to an initial report from Police Station 1, officers responded immediately after receiving information about a shooting incident at the school. Responding personnel confirmed that three individuals died while five others sustained injuries.

Videos circulating on social media showed scenes of panic inside the school, with students heard screaming as multiple gunshots rang out during the incident.
