Twenty-four Chinese nationals were arrested during a joint operation conducted by the Bureau of Immigration Region XI and the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division of the Philippine Army in Barangay New Little Panay, Panabo City, Davao del Norte on May 25, 2026.
According to information released by the 10th Infantry Division, the operation was launched following intelligence reports regarding the presence of foreign nationals in the area who were suspected of engaging in unauthorized employment and possessing questionable immigration documents.
Authorities said the operation resulted in the apprehension of 24 Chinese nationals who were found to have allegedly violated provisions of Commonwealth Act No. 613, also known as the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.
Based on the initial investigation, the alleged violations included misrepresentation, working without valid permits, and overstaying in the country.
Investigators also found that many of those arrested were reportedly employed by various companies despite holding only tourist visas.
The Bureau of Immigration and military authorities are currently conducting further verification and documentation procedures to determine the full extent of the alleged violations.
Officials said the operation highlights the continued coordination among government agencies in addressing illegal activities involving foreign nationals and ensuring compliance with Philippine immigration laws.
The 10th Infantry Division stated that the joint operation reflects ongoing efforts by government authorities to strengthen law enforcement and monitor activities that may be in violation of existing regulations.
