1Tahanan Partylist moves to strengthen PH shipyard industry

The 1Tahanan Partylist has filed a bill aimed at strengthening the country’s shipbuilding and ship repair industry.

Through House Bill Number 2598, or The Ship Building and Ship Repair Development Act, proposed by Representative Nathaniel “Atty Nat” Oducado, the government agencies would collaborate to research and develop a long-term plan to further boost the maritime industry in the Philippines.

Currently, there are over 400 shipyards in the country, but only 5% export their ship products.

This initiative aims to increase the production of high-quality ships made in the Philippines that can be sold abroad.

The 1Tahanan Partylist envisions the Philippines to be a home for ships made by Filipinos, with “Tatak Pinoy” symbolizing the excellence and resilience of the Filipino people.
