A 16-year-old Grade 10 student died on March 9 inside a public school in Taguig City, authorities reported.
Police said authorities found the student at the covered court of a public school in Barangay South Signal.
Personnel from Taguig Police Sub-Station 6 immediately responded to the scene and conducted an initial investigation into the incident.
The Taguig City government expressed deep sadness over the incident and extended condolences to the student’s grieving family.
City officials also conveyed sympathy to the student’s friends, classmates, and the entire school community affected by the tragedy.
The local government assured the public that it will provide the necessary assistance and support to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education also expressed condolences and immediately mobilized its mental health crisis response team.
The team will provide psychological support and assistance to students, teachers, and school personnel affected by the incident.
Several DepEd officials also personally visited the school to ensure that immediate help reaches the school community.
According to the Schools Division of Taguig City and Pateros, they continue coordinating with the local government.
They are also working with the DepEd Central Office to implement intervention programs including psychological first aid services.
DepEd urged the public to respect the family’s privacy while authorities continue providing support to the affected school community.
