Authorities arrested a suspected high-value drug personality and seized more than ₱7 million worth of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation early March 19 in Barangay Maa, Poblacion District.
The operation, conducted around 1 a.m., led to the arrest of a suspect identified only as alias “Alex,” who was under surveillance for alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.
Police said the suspect had already been noted by authorities due to previous reports linking him to the illegal drug trade.
Recovered from the suspect were sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱7,140,000. Also seized were a motorcycle and a mobile phone, which authorities believe were used in the conduct of illegal transactions.
The operation was carried out by personnel from the Maa Police Station as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug activities in the city.
Following the arrest, the suspect was taken into police custody and is currently detained.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, have been filed against him.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the suspect’s network or possible accomplices as of this writing.
The seized items were documented and are set to be submitted as evidence in court.
