Suspect nabbed after stolen motorcycle found on Facebook Marketplace in Batangas

A stolen motorcycle was traced through a Facebook Marketplace listing, leading to the arrest of one suspect in Tanauan City, Batangas police said.

The case began after the victim, alias “Mauro,” 47, a tricycle driver from Barangay Turbina, Calamba City, discovered a motorcycle matching his stolen vehicle posted for sale online.

According to his report to the Tanauan City Police Station, his Kawasaki Barako motorcycle with sidecar was taken from the parking area of New Metro Darasa Cockpit Arena in Barangay Darasa at around 3:30 a.m. on Monday, March 16.

With police assistance, the victim arranged to meet the seller at around 10:30 p.m. in Barangay Poblacion 1, Tanauan City. The operation resulted in the arrest of alias “John,” 30, married, and a resident of Barangay San Bartolome, Sto. Tomas City.

Authorities are still pursuing his alleged accomplice, alias “Raniel,” 27, married, unemployed, and a resident of Barangay San Vicente in the same city.

The stolen motorcycle was recovered during the operation, but its sidecar was no longer found.

Police reminded the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to help prevent similar crimes.
