₱1.1M illegal cooking oil seized in Tarlac Operation

Police confiscated more than ₱1.1 million worth of suspected illegal cooking oil products during an operation in Tarlac City.

The Philippine National Police said the seizure took place in Sitio Allied, Barangay San Rafael, as part of an effort to enforce food safety regulations and protect public health.

The operation was led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Tarlac Provincial Field Unit in coordination with the Tarlac City Police Station. Authorities served a search warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 63, in connection with alleged violations of the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, or Republic Act 9711.

During the operation, officers confiscated hundreds of containers of cooking oil products, including palm oil and coconut oil. They also seized transaction records, delivery receipts, a Samsung tablet and other items considered relevant to the case.

Police estimated the total value of the confiscated products and materials at about ₱1,152,492.

The seized items were brought to the CIDG Tarlac Provincial Field Unit office at Camp Macabulos for documentation and proper disposition.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the operation showed law enforcement’s efforts to ensure that products entering the market meet safety standards.

He also urged consumers to avoid buying cooking oil and other food products from unauthorized or unverified sellers.

Authorities said operations against products that may pose risks to public health will continue as part of ongoing enforcement of food safety laws.

Investigations related to the seized items and possible violations of existing regulations are ongoing.
