Over 10 old bus units burn inside Bacolod compound

More than 10 old bus units caught fire inside the Vallacar Transit compound at 1 Community, Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City around 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2025.

Initial reports gathered by Brigada News FM Bacolod indicated that security guards assigned to the area heard a loud bang coming from one of the parked buses before the fire spread.

The buses involved were old and unused units stationed inside the company’s compound.

Employees of Vallacar Transit, some of whom reside in the parked units, expressed grief and concern as their personal belongings were also consumed by the flames. Items lost included daily food supplies and company-issued uniforms.

As of this writing, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is still investigating the cause of the fire.

Authorities have yet to provide an estimate of the total damage, and no injuries have been reported.

The incident highlights concerns over fire safety in storage areas containing old or unused vehicles. Vallacar Transit has yet to release an official statement regarding the fire and possible next steps for affected personnel.
