Vice President Sara Duterte is prepared to face an impeachment trial, according to a statement from her office.
Office of the Vice President spokesperson Ruth Castelo confirmed that Duterte is ready to present her side and evidence before the impeachment court.
This statement came after a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed that 66 percent of Filipinos believe Duterte should undergo the impeachment process.
During a press briefing, Castelo said the vice president is eager to clear her name and dispel public doubt through legal means.
Castelo added that Duterte is ready to present her side and the necessary evidence once the trial begins.
However, Duterte’s legal team is currently pursuing appropriate steps as allowed by existing laws.
The Office of the Vice President is also closely monitoring the Supreme Court’s upcoming decision on the case.
No timeline has been provided for when the impeachment trial might proceed, pending further legal developments.
