Vice President Sara Duterte has dismissed a viral photo showing her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, lying in a hospital bed as false and misleading.
The photo, which spread across social media platforms, depicts the elder Duterte appearing bedridden with hospital bands on both wrists. The image prompted public speculation about the former leader’s health condition.
In a recent interview, Duterte said the photo was most likely edited and not reflective of the truth. She clarified that her father is not confined to any hospital detention unit and remains physically active.
She added that while the former president has indeed lost a significant amount of weight, he is still in generally good health and able to walk around.
The vice president also reminded the public to be cautious with the content they consume and share online, warning against the spread of misinformation.
As of this writing, the former president’s camp has not issued an official statement or provided a recent photo to counter the viral post.
