VP Sara Claims Cash-Filled Suitcases Allegedly Delivered to Former Speaker Romualdez

Vice President Sara Duterte has issued a statement regarding the alleged involvement of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in corruption activities.

This follows her earlier claim that the lawmaker was receiving kickbacks from illegal gambling operations.

In her statement today, VP Sara said she believes reports that multiple suitcases filled with money were supposedly being delivered to Romualdez’s residence. She added that these accounts align with previous allegations that the congressman had accepted bribes.

She also pointed out that Romualdez’s name repeatedly surfaces in corruption-related discussions — including in the Delaware court proceedings linked to the Okada Manila casino case.

According to Duterte, this recurring pattern is not coincidental but “disturbing,” and it lends credibility to the testimony of Orly Guteza — who claimed that “bags of garbage” filled with cash were being brought to the lawmaker every week.

Guteza is the individual identified by Senator Ping Lacson as the “surprise witness” presented by Senator Rodante Marcoleta during the flood control probe, where he also implicated Romualdez in alleged corruption.
