Vice President Sara Duterte said she is recruiting a potential vice presidential running mate who would ensure that people who committed wrongdoing in the country would be held accountable.
Duterte made the statement during the program “Vox Populi” on SMNI on Saturday night, Feb. 21.
“Ito lang ang sasabihin ko. Hindi pwedeng walang managot. Yung nire-recruit ko na vice president, siya ang magpapanagot sa mga gumawa ng mali sa bayan. Para ako nakatutok ako sa trabaho ng presidente,” Duterte said.
She revealed that she has been recruiting a possible running mate in case she decides to run for president of the Philippines. Duterte added that she began recruiting as early as last year but did not disclose any names.
On Feb. 18, Duterte surprised many when she declared her intention to run for president despite facing impeachment cases.
Following her declaration, several names circulated on social media as possible running mates. These include Sen. Robin Padilla, who is known to be loyal to former President Rodrigo Duterte; Sen. Imee Marcos, sister of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.; Sen. Rodante Marcoleta; Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, who was the running mate of Rodrigo Duterte; and former Vice President Leni Robredo.
