Visayas Governors unite in backing Marcos’ ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ vision

Governors from across the Visayas formally declared their support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., signing a manifesto during a “Unity Lunch” at the Cebu Provincial Capitol on January 30.

Six Western Visayas governors—Aklan’s Jose Enrique Miraflores, Guimaras’ JC Rahman Nava, Antique’s Rhodora Cadiao, Iloilo’s Arthur Defensor Jr., Capiz’s Fredenil Castro, and Negros Occidental’s Eugenio Jose Lacson—joined 10 other Visayan governors in supporting the Marcos administration.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, leader of the One Visayas Bloc, organized the event, which gathered mayors, vice mayors, councilors, and barangay officials. Other Visayan leaders also issued separate manifestos, recognizing Marcos’ leadership and commitment to nation-building.

In their manifesto, the governors expressed their unified support. “We, the duly elected governors of the Visayas region, representing our respective provinces and the millions of Filipinos who call the Visayas home, stand united in our unwavering support for the administration of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.”

The League of Municipalities in Cebu, the PCL-Cebu Chapter, and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation also voiced their support for Marcos’ “Bagong Pilipinas” vision, which promotes justice, equality, and unity.

Meanwhile, President Marcos welcomed the endorsement and emphasized that strong regional backing helps implement government programs efficiently and accelerates development.

He highlighted the importance of cooperation among local officials in Western, Central, and Eastern Visayas to strengthen governance.
