Authorities arrested two Chinese nationals in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, for allegedly misrepresenting themselves as Filipino citizens and violating conditions of their visas.
The arrests were carried out during a joint law enforcement operation on March 4, 2026, in Barangay Mahayahay, Iligan City.
The operation was led by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the Iligan City Police, with support from several units of the Philippine Army.
Authorities identified the arrested individuals as XU BaoGui, also known as Stanny Co., 51, and CAI Lizun, also known as Mia Co., 50.
According to investigators, the two Chinese nationals allegedly misrepresented themselves as Filipino citizens and violated their work visa conditions. Authorities said the individuals had been living in the Philippines for nearly 20 years while engaging in business activities.
Investigations further revealed that both individuals were allegedly using Filipino aliases in official documents.
Authorities also discovered that one of the suspects had obtained a late-registered Filipino birth certificate and a Philippine driver’s license using an assumed Filipino identity. Both suspects were also found in possession of Philippine driver’s licenses issued under their respective aliases.
Following their arrest, the two individuals were brought to the headquarters of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade at Camp Sultan Badrodin in Barangay Maria Cristina, Iligan City for documentation and processing.
Authorities said the suspects will be turned over to the Bureau of Immigration for proper legal action in accordance with existing immigration laws.
Officials said the operation highlighted interagency coordination among the Bureau of Immigration, the Philippine National Police, and the Philippine Army in enforcing immigration laws and ensuring public safety.
