Truck loaded with chicken feeds overturns in Antique

A delivery truck carrying 217 sacks of chicken feeds tipped over early Wednesday morning along a curvy road in Barangay Igbukagay, Hamtic, Antique.

The truck driver, identified as Joe, said the brakes weakened while descending the road, causing him to lose control immediately.

Shattered glass from the destroyed windshield spread across the road, alarming nearby residents and motorists passing through the accident-prone area early.

Joe and his two helpers miraculously escaped serious harm, sustaining only minor injuries despite the heavy load of feeds in the truck.

Barangay Captain Candelaria Siasol confirmed the area has long been known as accident-prone, with trucks and motorcycles frequently involved in crashes there.

“The truck fell in a known accident-prone area, but luckily it was moving slowly because of the heavy feed load it carried,” she said.

Authorities reminded drivers to inspect vehicles thoroughly before traveling, especially for long distances or on curvy, downhill roads that increase accident risks.

Police and barangay personnel quickly secured the site, removing debris and ensuring traffic could continue safely while investigation and cleanup efforts proceeded.

Officials urged motorists to drive cautiously, maintain vehicle brakes properly, and avoid overloading trucks to prevent similar accidents from occurring again in the future.

The incident highlighted the need for stricter road safety awareness and regular vehicle maintenance in accident-prone regions to protect drivers and passengers alike.
