THC vape pens, marijuana seized in Consolacion, Cebu operation

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas seized dozens of vape products containing tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, along with dried marijuana leaves during a buy-bust operation in Consolacion town, Cebu.

PDEA-7 said the operation was carried out Thursday night, Jan. 29, at around 8 p.m. in Barangay Jugan, in coordination with the Consolacion Municipal Police Station.

One suspect, identified only as alias “Jake,” 23, a resident of the area, was arrested during the operation.

Authorities recovered 77 vape pens and five vape cartridges, both containing THC, the primary psychoactive component of marijuana. The seized vape products were estimated to have a total value of 206,500 pesos.

Also confiscated were 29 packages of dried marijuana leaves weighing about 324 grams, with an estimated value of 47,520 pesos, according to PDEA-7.

Investigators said the suspect was allegedly able to dispose of an estimated 300 to 500 vape products and about 500 grams of marijuana each week.

PDEA-7 added that most of the suspect’s customers were reportedly call center agents, other professionals, and students.

The suspect is currently being held at the PDEA-7 detention facility in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

Authorities said he will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PDEA-7 continues to warn the public about the circulation of illegal vape products containing controlled substances, noting the growing concern over their availability and use in local communities.

Officials urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement efforts to prevent the spread of illegal drugs in the province.
