Taxi driver returns ₱600,000 left behind by passenger, earns recognition for honesty

Honesty remains alive in Baguio City after a taxi driver returned a passenger’s bag containing ₱600,000 instead of keeping the money.

The Baguio City government recognized taxi driver Roger Tuabas for his remarkable honesty and commitment to doing what he believed was morally right.

According to reports, Tuabas noticed the unattended bag after dropping off his passengers along Upper Session Road during his regular work shift.

Instead of claiming the money for himself, he immediately searched for the rightful owner and successfully returned the valuable belongings without hesitation.

The grateful passenger expressed deep appreciation for Tuabas’ honesty and offered him a cash reward as a gesture of sincere gratitude.

However, Tuabas politely declined the reward, explaining that returning something which did not belong to him was simply the right thing.

His decision earned widespread admiration from local residents who praised his integrity, humility, and unwavering commitment to honesty despite the large amount.

Tuabas has worked in the public transportation sector for more than three decades, including over fifteen years as a dedicated taxi driver.
