Task Force Samal member arrested after hacking couple to death in Davao del Norte

A husband and wife were found dead inside their rented home in Barangay Villarica, Babak District, Samal, Davao del Norte, early morning of October 17.

Police identified the victims as Jonathan Prado, a security guard and former pastor, and his wife, Bhryliant Pearl. Their bodies were discovered around 1 a.m. by co-workers.

Authorities said the couple’s two-year-old child was found unharmed at the scene.

Initial investigation showed the suspect, identified as a member of Task Force Samal, knocked on the couple’s door and was allowed inside because they knew him. Once inside, the suspect allegedly attacked and hacked the victims to death.

Police launched a hot pursuit operation and quickly arrested the suspect. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to the killings but claimed he was too drunk to remember what he had done.

The suspect is now detained and facing multiple criminal charges. Investigators are also looking into whether the female victim was assaulted before she was killed.
