Slater Young breaks silence on Monterrazas issue, cites scientific findings

Slater Young has spoken out regarding the Monterrazas issue, which was linked to alleged worsening floods in Cebu during Typhoon Tino in November 2025.

The former Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited winner addressed the controversy in a video statement released on April 19, 2026, denying responsibility for the flooding claims.

Young referenced findings from the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Science Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology to support his explanation.

He stated that the study indicated the extreme rainfall brought by the typhoon was the primary cause of the severe flooding and resulting damage.

According to him, the Monterrazas prime real estate project had no direct contribution to the disaster as alleged in public discussions.

He further claimed that the development may have even helped reduce flash flood impacts based on technical assessments from experts.

Young explained that he initially remained silent due to an ongoing investigation by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

He urged the public to rely on scientific evidence and verified data instead of spreading misinformation surrounding the issue.

The engineer also expressed sympathy for families affected by the disaster and acknowledged the pain caused by the typhoon’s destruction.

He concluded by thanking supporters who continued to defend him and his family throughout the controversy.
