A deadly shooting in Argao, Cebu on Friday night left one man dead, with authorities pointing to jealousy and a love triangle as the motive.
Police identified the suspect as Mark Villamora, the sitting president of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation in Argao. He is accused of shooting Elmer, a local resident, during a drinking session around 11 p.m. on July 11 in Barangay Poblacion.
According to Police Captain Carlos Narca, Deputy Chief of the Argao Municipal Police Station, Elmer was with several friends when the incident occurred. Villamora reportedly arrived alone, and upon spotting Elmer, immediately shot him multiple times with a 9mm pistol.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a long-standing personal conflict. Reports indicate that the two had an unresolved dispute dating back to last year, allegedly involving a romantic relationship between Villamora and Elmer’s girlfriend.
At the scene, police recovered nine spent shell casings, two fired bullets, one deformed slug, and a bullet fragment.
Villamora is now under police custody and may face charges of murder.
