Several tourists stranded due to Typhoon Uwan

The Department of Tourism (DOT) reported that several tourists have been stranded due to the severe impact of Typhoon Uwan.

In Cagayan Valley, 35 tourists were stranded in Batanes; 50 in Caraga; and 76 in the Mimaropa region.

Authorities assured that all affected passengers are safe and have been provided with transportation and accommodation arrangements.

The DOT also reiterated that some water activities remain suspended in parts of Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.

The public is advised to postpone non-essential travel to affected areas and avoid coastal and mountainous routes.

Tourists currently in affected locations are also advised to remain in their safe accommodations and strictly follow the guidance of hotel personnel and local authorities.
