A senior citizen was shot dead in Zone 1, Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City, on Monday.
The victim, identified as Henry Salbibia, 62, of Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia, Negros Occidental, was a caretaker for a local foundation.
Police Capt. Sherwin Galupar, head of Police Station 10, told Brigada News FM Bacolod that Salbibia was driving his motorcycle when an unidentified suspect, also on a motorcycle and wearing a helmet and jacket, followed him.
The gunman reportedly pulled alongside Salbibia and shot him in the head, as captured by CCTV footage.
Spent bullet casings from an unidentified firearm were recovered at the crime scene.
“He was just celebrating his birthday,” the victim’s family lamented, calling for justice. Salbibia had celebrated his birthday the previous Sunday.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.
