Senator Imee Marcos denied allegations made by Ramil Madriaga during a House Justice Committee hearing, describing his statements as false in connection with impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.
During a press conference at the Senate, Marcos said the claims presented by Madriaga during the committee hearing were lies. She addressed statements related to discussions about the candidacy of Vice President Duterte and her tandem with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Marcos presented what she described as a timeline of past discussions involving the political plans of Vice President Duterte and President Marcos. According to the senator, there was no truth to Madriaga’s claim that there was a supposed term-sharing agreement between the two leaders.
She also expressed strong reaction to the allegations, saying the claims were unacceptable and should not be allowed to misuse the time, space, and dignity of any branch of government.
Marcos further stated that she would not tolerate wrongdoing even if it involved her brother, President Marcos.
In her remarks, the senator appealed to the President not to allow himself to be used in what she described as false statements made by Madriaga.
The statements were issued following the House Justice Committee hearing held in connection with impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Duterte.
As of now, the issue remains part of ongoing political developments tied to the impeachment proceedings, with statements from involved individuals continuing to shape the public discussion surrounding the allegations raised during the hearing.
