Rider who beat 67-year-old driver to be summoned by LTO

The Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) will summon a motorcycle rider involved in a road rage incident along the national highway in Barangay Salvacion, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

According to a report from the Murcia Municipal Police Station, the incident involved a 67-year-old car driver and a 30-year-old motorcycle rider.

Initial investigation showed that both vehicles were traveling in the same direction along the highway. The motorcycle rider allegedly attempted to overtake the car and then blocked the vehicle in Purok Bernabe, Barangay Salvacion.

Authorities said the rider then allegedly punched the car driver several times.

The attack reportedly caused injuries to the victim, including bleeding on his face.

Following the incident, the Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region announced that it will issue a Show Cause Order against the motorcycle rider.

The order will require the rider to explain why his driver’s license should not be suspended or revoked.

A Show Cause Order is typically issued by the LTO when a driver is accused of violating traffic laws or being involved in incidents that may endanger public safety.

Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding possible charges related to the incident.

The Murcia Municipal Police Station continues to coordinate with relevant agencies as the investigation proceeds.
