The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) welcomed President Bongbong Marcos’ approval of the National Sports Tourism Inter-Agency Committee (NST-IAC) through Administrative Order No. 38.
Under the directive, PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio will serve as committee chair, with the Department of Tourism’s representative as vice chair.
The NST-IAC is mandated to organize, coordinate, and supervise all government efforts aimed at developing, promoting, and sustaining sports tourism in the country.
According to Gregorio, the committee will play a vital role in strengthening youth development, boosting regional growth, improving tourism, and opening new industries. He added that some of the world’s biggest tourism events are sports-related.
Gregorio noted that sports is a multibillion industry, and the Philippines can position itself as a sports hub in Southeast Asia, in cooperation with the Department of Tourism and local government units.
