Private electrician dies after electrocution in Sta. Ana

A private electrician died after accidentally coming into contact with a live wire of the CAGELCO power lines in Sta. Ana, on Tuesday morning. The fatality was identified as Joseph James Cadauan, 38 years old, a resident of Sta. Cruz, Sta. Ana.

According to the Sta. Ana Police Station’s report, they received a call from a concerned citizen about a man who was reportedly hanging from a CAGELCO utility pole, believed to have been electrocuted. Police immediately responded to verify the incident.

Upon investigation, the victim’s colleague, Joel Tobias, revealed that they were in the process of reconnecting a service drop that had been cut off due to Typhoon Marce. During the operation, Cadauan accidentally touched the live wire, which resulted in the fatal electrocution.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, the victim was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. Authorities are currently conducting further investigations into the incident.

The local police, together with CAGELCO officials, are reviewing safety protocols to prevent similar accidents in the future. The family of the victim is being assisted by authorities during this difficult time.
